Life Skills Learning Programmes for Young People with SEND

This year, we are raising money to fund the delivery of our Life Skills learning programmes on behalf of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in Manchester. We want to develop the financial skills and confidence of the young people we support - giving them the tools needed to become more financially independent and ready for life after their EHCP (Education Health and Care Plan) finishes.

Fighting education inequality since 2017

Bounceback Education CIC is a social enterprise that gives pupils from all backgrounds the chance to achieve their potential. We provide tutoring opportunities for pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds and run workshops, learning programmes and interventions designed to reduce the attainment gap between Pupil Premium and non-Pupil Premium students. This outreach work includes supporting those most at risk of becoming NEET and SEND young people aged 16-24 - to help them succeed with their post-16 progression opportunities.

Our Social Impact

Since 2017 Bounceback Education CIC has:

  • Delivered learning programmes and workshops to over 300 NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training) or SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) pupils.
  • Provided Pupil Premium students in Salford, Manchester and Stockport with over 2,500 hours of tutoring and learning support.
  • Pre-Covid opened our first Learning Centre in Walkden, Salford which provided tutoring opportunities and learning programmes for our beneficiaries.

Taking the first steps to financial independence

Our Life Skills learning programmes set up students for life beyond their EHCP plans. Each programme includes 4 practical workshops and covers key functional skills such as budgeting, saving strategies and cooking skills (batch cooking, food storage, defrosting/reheating) that help to save money & manage budgets – better preparing students for ‘real life’ scenarios that they will encounter after leaving DISC - their specialist college. Students who complete our Life Skills learning programme feel more secure and in control of their money - after practically working through activities that improve their budgeting, money management and overall financial education.

What will the money be used for?

Target 1: Learning Programmes & Resources

Our fundraising target of £17,400 will raise the funds required to:

  • Deliver 6 x Life Skills learning programmes on behalf of 60 SEND pupils in Manchester in the 2026/27 academic year.
  • Create and share all accompanying resources via our social enterprise Resources Portal, to enable a wider network of schools & colleges to also benefit from our project.
