Sergey, my parrot, is very poorly at the prime of his life. We need help with veterinary bills for diagnostics, treatment and medication ❣️
Sergey was caged up for 19 years of his life in bad conditions before being rescued by Avian Angels. I adopted him as a lifelong fosterer, but 6 years into his best life with a human (me), he's developed a debilitating condition where he is hurting and opening up lesions at the tail end on his left side. He's a very smart, cheeky and charming bird and a real beloved companion to me.

Sergey has to live in collars to avoid him opening deep wounds over the area that hurts and needs urgent veterinary investigation into the problem. Collars reduce his quality of life and are not comfortable for him.

It's either a severe skin virus or a tumour and he needs diagnostics, medication and treatment to hopefully give him a new lease of life that he deserves. He has opened at least 5 deep wounds in the same area since April this year and is constantly in pain.

I'm seeking veterinary help to get his blood works done under anaesthetic and then a skin biopsy to determine whether it's a virus or a tumour. This alone, the will cost around £1000 and pet insurance have refused to help due to exclusions they added about skin disorders this year. Sergey needs medication and pain management and then treatment for what the biopsy returns. It's either antibiotics for a skin virus (I hope) or expensive radiotherapy in London if it's a tumour. It could be malignant or benign but it's causing him enough pain to pick the area non stop and rip open his skin down to the muscle.

I'm struggling to pay for treatment as I have several disabilities and am a starting artist.

I love Sergey immensely, he is a great companion and friend during my work and illness at home. This includes mobility issues from chronic pain, fibromyalgia, the rare blood disorder TTP, as well as PTSD and anxiety disorders. We are a bonded parrot-human pair and our relationship is something that brings me much support during many health challenges. His physical pain brings me much emotional suffering and I'm struggling to maintain the collar regime as this involves catching him with a towel to change them often for baths and when he chews through them.

He needs veterinary help asap and is in much pain and discomfort. Being an exotic bird, vets fees are extortionate and I cannot get support from conventional avenues for him. Any support would help towards his diagnostics, medication and treatment and would be immensely appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and even more for any support.
