Aim

Our aunt is currently in a hospital fighting for her life but we cannot afford the cost of her diagnostic test (coronary angiogram)

Hi. I am Rhea and I am asking for any amount you can donate to help my aunt continue her treatment.

My aunt Julinda was having difficulty breathing and been feeling very unwell so from a small rural town, they travelled to the city to see a doctor. It was only at that time that they realised she has suffered a heart attack and was advised by the cardiologist to have herself admitted to a hospital right away (this happened on Thurs 5th Mar 2026). As she was worrying about the cost, she refused to do so and has assured the doctor she would be fine with the prescribed oral meds. Whilst on their way back to where they live (3hours drive from the city), my aunt could no longer breathe and her daughter who was with her decided for them to turn around to go back to the city and she was admitted to the nearest emergency department.

Whilst in there, she suffered another heart attack. They managed to keep her vitals as best they could as they did not have any vacancy in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). She was on close monitoring by various clinicians.

The following day, the cardiologist strongly advised for my aunt to be admitted to the ICU as her vitals are not stable (very low BP) and she now requires high flow oxygen therapy to help her breathing and minimise the stress to her heart.

It has been a very difficult few days for our family. My aunt's husband is already unwell and has an MRI scheduled in the next few days as he is also unable to exert any effort without catching his breath.

My aunt and uncle live a frugal life in the Philippines. They rely upon their children to help support them with their daily needs. As a family, we have taken it upon ourselves to reassure my aunt that we will help each other with the hospital bills for as long as she gets better. We however can only do so much financially. My aunt is only in her late 60's. She is yet to meet her second grandson.

On their first night in hospital, the partial bill is already over 80,000 php (£ 1100.00). With her pending admission to the ICU, it will cost us additional £100 per day not including her daily medications and doctors' fees (3 consulatants are involved in her care: cardiologist, pulmonologist and internal meds). She now has inflamed gallbladder, unstable blood pressure, poor oxygen sats and high blood glucose.

On behalf of our family, I humbly ask for your kindness to donate any amount you can spare to help us continue the treatment of my aunt.

Update 8th Mar.2026:

Cardiologist rounds--

I thought it best to share with you where we are now. My aunt has been slowly weaned off oxygen therapy although the concern is that her sats drop when she is asleep so she still needs the therapy.

Her vitals are becoming stable however her cardiologist shared that 2 chambers of her heart are enlarged and the only way to find out the cause is through an angiogram.

This procedure has to be done ASAP and we are asked to prepare aroung £15000 GBP.

Once this is completed and a blockage is/are identified, my aunt will need to have angioplasty (£ 50000 GBP) or worse, a heart bypass (considerably more costly).

I hope it is not too much to also ask for your prayers and to please share the page as your friends and acquaintances may be able to help us in their own little ways.
