Aim

We are trying to raise funds to engage with barristers to help fight our case to stop the council from destroying our homes.

UPDATE: PERMISSION GRANTED FOR FULL JUDICIAL REVIEW HEARING

We Have Reached the Next Stage — But The Fight Must Continue

We are pleased to provide an important update on our legal challenge concerning the proposed demolition of our homes in Horden.

Following the recent permission hearing, the Court has granted permission for our Judicial Review to proceed to a full hearing.

This is a major step forward.

Our legal challenge will now move beyond the initial permission stage, allowing the issues raised in our case to be considered fully by the Court.

Why We Need Your Help Again

When we originally launched this Crowdfunder, we were raising money to help us take the first stages of our legal challenge forward.

Thanks to everyone who supported us, we were able to raise funds which helped us get this far.

But the legal process has now entered a new and potentially much more demanding stage.

A full Judicial Review hearing requires further preparation, legal work, evidence and representation. Our legal team will now need to prepare the case for the substantive hearing, and there will be further legal costs involved.

For that reason, we need to continue fundraising.

Every contribution, no matter how large or small, will help us meet the costs of taking this case through the next stage.

What Does Permission Mean?

Permission being granted does not mean that we have won the Judicial Review.

It means that the Court has determined that our case should proceed to a full hearing, where the legal grounds we have raised can be considered in greater detail.

We now have the opportunity to put our case fully before the Court.

Our barrister has advised us that the timing of the full hearing will depend on the availability of the Court and the timetable set by the Court.

Why This Matters

This case is about more than individual houses.

It concerns the future of homes and a historic part of Horden, and the decisions that have been made about their proposed demolition.

We believe these decisions should be properly scrutinised through the legal process.

We have already come a long way, but we cannot afford to stop now.

The fact that permission has been granted gives us the opportunity to continue the challenge to the next stage.

Please Help Us Continue

If you have already donated, thank you. Your support has helped us reach this important point.

If you are able to make another contribution, or increase your previous donation, we would be extremely grateful.

If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this Crowdfunder with friends, family, local residents and anyone who cares about the future of Horden's communities.

Every share can make a difference.

We are asking for your continued support so that we can meet the legal costs of preparing for and taking part in the full Judicial Review hearing.

We have reached the next stage.

Now we need your help to see it through.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us, stood with us and helped keep this campaign going.

The fight continues.
