Aim
We are trying to raise funds to engage with barristers to help fight our case to stop the council from destroying our homes.
The people of Horden Colliery, County Durham, desperately need your help. They have decided to stick together and fight Durham County Council’s decision to demolish their sturdy homes. They have no choice, this would result in over fifty families going from being homeowners and in some cases mortgage-free to being homeless and in possession of less than five years rent. This in an area that has been de-industrialised and neglected for four decades and already suffers one of the lowest home ownership figures in the whole of the UK.
The fight will be an uphill struggle, David against Goliath, we are the little people fighting our own council who have unlimited funds that we give them. We need to engage with barristers and law firms and it could cost an much as £20, 000. Please help, some of the people here who will be moved on are elderly and have lived here all their lives.
