New stretch target
Our business model has always been to reinvest in Flea Circus. If we beat our target then we will continue to improve the shop, mainly with the addition of heaters to keep customers (and Fleas) warm during the winter months. It gets SO cold, as many of you will testify! If funds allow, we'll also have a bit of a party for all our customers, to say a huge thanks for your support x
Jim and Jess set up Flea Circus in September 2018 as an affordable selling platform for North East sellers and creatives.
The 200 square metre department store is now home to 35 independent businesses and is a vibrant and popular shopping destination. The sellers, or Fleas as they are known, have become a micro community and have worked hard together to support the shop and help it thrive.
After Covid hit, Jess and Jim made the emotional decision to close the shop doors to customers on March 23rd. The continued lockdown has hit Flea Circus hard with overheads still to meet. Footfall is zero. And revenue is at 25% of what it was this time last year.
Bills still need to be paid and even with online sales and live streaming events the Fleas are struggling to make ends meet.
Flea Circus did not qualify for the Small Business Grant Fund. Despite the loyalty of our incredible customers turnover is down massively, and uncertain times still lie ahead.
So, Team Flea is asking you if you can help us survive so we can be here to see you and serve you again on the other side.
