Help Sam get to Salem!

I'm fundraising so I can fulfull a big thing off my bucket list!

So, I’m fighting metastatic breast cancer.   It’s been 21 months of hell. 

They’ve FINALLY found a chemo drug that is working - for now.

A bit about the journey......
A lump was found and I was diagnosed in October 2024. Six chemo drug cocktails failed. My cancer is very chemo resistant. While they were trying to find a drug that worked, the tumour grew and grew to the point where it was so big that I had to undergo a unilateral mastectomy. It had also spread into the lymph nodes in my right arm - so they were all removed too. Unfortunately there was one lymph node behind my right clavicle that they couldn't get to - that's the one that's still there to this day, with cancer in it. Radiotherapy was used but sadly the cancer started growing again straight away. Another chemo drug tried next - and failed. Then my lung collapsed and filled with fluid, so a lung drain was in order. For a singer this was truly terrifying.

And then this drug i'm on now - Sacituzumab Govitecan.  It's started to work!  BUT, they don’t know how long it will continue to work. It’s unlikely this drug will ever get rid of my cancer, and it won’t work forever.  It's a case of keeping it at bay now - not curing me. Unfortunately when I had the lung drain they found cancer cells in the fluid  - they don’t know where these came from so that’s getting monitored too  

So now i'll get to the point.

The fact is, there’s stuff I wanna do while I still can. One of those things is a trip to the States. I long to go to Salem MA. A solo trip this December.

I had no intention for asking anyone to help with this. I’m going alone, and see this as a true bucket list thing. But to make this happen quicker than I could do alone, I could do with raising some money.  I'm unable to work now so money is always tight.

I am hoping to raise £1000.  I realise the holiday will actually cost thousands with travel insurance (especially with cancer), food, fuel to the airport and airport parking, spending money and more, but  £1000 will cover about three quarters of the costs of the flights and hotel.  I do not want to seem cheeky.  I will hopefully be able to save up and cover the difference and some spending money myself.

I don't feel comfortable just asking people to give me money - I feel happier DOING something for it.  So i'm going to do a 10 mile walk and i'm asking you for sponsorship. I know 10 miles probably seems like nothing, but i'm full of chemo drugs - it's going to be tough.  My best friend is going to come along with me -  mainly to keep me out of trouble i think! Ha ha! It’s looking like this big walk will happen the first week of September, weather permitting. 

If anyone feels geneous or would like to help me take a trip of a lifetime,literally ANYTHING you'd like to give,would be incredible.
