Aim

Please donate money to help our good friend Roger Cooper rebuild his surfboard factory that has been destroyed by fire.

On 6/01/2019 Roger Cooper Surfboards factory was destroyed by fire, leading to Roger losing his livelihood.

Unfortunately funds do not cover the cost of rebuilding the factory. A huge amount of irreplaceable tools, equipment and memories accumulated over many many years were also lost in the fire.

This factory which was home to Roger Cooper surfboards for over 30 years wasn't just a building where Surfboards were made, it was a building where Roger loved to spend long days working, dreaming up new ideas, forging friendships, mentoring future craftsmen, spending time with his family, drinking lots of coffee and everyone was welcome.

Roger with his wife Sandy and daughter Lucy looked at this place as an extension of their home and are truly devastated.  They really need your help with the mammoth task ahead of rebuilding their factory and livelihood .

Roger Cooper has been making surfboards for nearly 50 years. One of the few British craftsmen to have Hand shaped over 10000 boards.  There are not many surfers in the U.K who have not owned or ridden a Roger Cooper surfboard.

Roger started his Surfboard building career at home on the Isle of Wight.  Wanting to make a living out of board building he moved to North Devon gaining knowledge and expertise working at Tiki surfboard factory. Moving to South Wales with Sandy in 1974 Zippy Sticks Surfboard factory was born. After a few moves Roger Cooper Surfboards Factory was built in Cwmafan, Port Talbot close to Rogers favourite local surf break Aberavon.
