🦁 The Cause: Help Rescue a Ukrainian Lion Family

Lion Rescue 3 has begun, and this time, Oleg, Rafael, and Shanti who have a second chance.

At just eight months old, these three lion cubs have already faced tough beginnings, born into uncertainty and caught in circumstances beyond their control in war-torn Ukraine. But their story doesn’t have to end there.

Thanks to your support, the WildLife Foundation is preparing its next journey, one filled with hope have lived through unimaginable conditions. Now, they need your help to find sanctuary, safety, and a new beginning at Yorkshire Wildlife Park’s world-class Lion Country reserve.

🐾Meet the Lions You're Helping to Save:

Oleg was rescued as a cub from private owners who fled the Sumy region during the escalation of war. Raised by humans, Oleg is frightened of people but clearly longs for a connection with other lions. Right now, he lives alone, not by choice, but due to lack of space.

Rafael and Shanti, siblings, were found in the Kharkiv region next to their dying mother, a lioness who had been abandoned in a private menagerie and starved. The cubs survived against all odds. Raised by their mother until her final moments, they are now inseparable, gentle, and curious around people.

Now, with your support, these three remarkable lions have a chance to change their lives forever and bring them to the UK, where they’ll live safely together, perhaps for the first time in a proper pride-like setting. According to wildlife specialists on the ground, bringing Oleg together with Rafael and Shanti would be transformative for all of them.

🌍 Your Impact: From War Zones to Wildlife Haven

In 2024, we successfully rescued the lioness named Aysa and her cubs Emi, Santa, and Teddi, abandoned in Ukraine. After months in limbo at a temporary facility in Poland, they were finally brought to safety at Yorkshire Wildlife Park’s Lion Country reserve.1747218169_acp_mdm210324poland_45.jpg
