We are Little Britain Anglers and our aim is to make our waterways better places to walk, run ,cycle and fish.
A short forward to say why we are fundraising before the rest of the info
Carol Anne who is the artist offered to paint this mural without us paying her as we are a non profit Organisation and only had enough for the paints ect but as you will agree if you check on Little Britain Anglers or look up Leslie Stott on youtube the mural in full is exceptional and thought we would fundraise for three charities namely Bury Hospice, Francis House and Trinity Foodbank with all proceeds being split we are hoping to raise 1500 for each but more would be even better especially as it comes up to Christmas.
We began our projects in 2021 with "The Barge Garden" that is on the opposite side of the canal in Radcliffe, Greater Manchester , due to the pandemic we had excess funds that needed to be used up, we asked the fund team if we could make the garden and they agreed and so myself and Eric set to with Gill Smith, Andrea Booth and Ryan Walters all of Radcliffe Litter Pickers coming up with a design, with help from The Woodies who placed the flower beds and seating made from Russ Crook it took shape and with help from Community groups in Radcliffe it has flourished into the garden it is today. this time Eric Owen chairperson of Little Britain Anglers said he would love to see a mural on the wall opposite of a barge being pulled by shire horses, funding would be needed and so I applied and at the end of 2021 we received funding from the Health Improvement Fund through Bury Council, We now needed permission to paint it ... how hard could it be....
In June 2022 we were at a Growing Together Radcliffe meeting and asked if anyone knew an artist that would take on such a big job and a representative from Women of Worth said I might, In July we met Carol Anne and a friendship was made
.
Eric told her of his idea and we showed her the wall, still not having permission as of yet gradually over the next year and half more ideas kept being added and Carol Anne just kept saying just let me know when your ready.
Finally in Nov 2023 we had all permissions and so plans were began ,paints were bought and Carol Anne began in May this year she has done all the work freehand and it truly is a piece of art that needs to be visited to be appreciated fully.
All the artwork is to do with Radcliffe from the litter pickers, the East Lancs Mill gates and St Mary's Church with croquet and cricket represented to the two memorials of truly amazing men that Radcliffe lost in quick succession who helped not only LBA but other community groups as well.
Carol Anne is an amazing lady and has worked on the Printworks in Manchester and in Milan, in her time she also has previously donated her time in Blackpool at the souls in motion event.
We can not thank her enough for the mural her "Wonder Wall" as she calls it
