Help owners of Maenporth cafe!!!

Help Maenporth Beach Cafe clear up the devastation caused to the beach & car park by the strong easterly winds and tides on 1st March 2018

The 'Beast from the East' brought a trail of carnage across the UK and a very rare sight of thick snow here in Cornwall. But the storm also brought a trail of destruction to many of the south coast beach communities here, after many days of strong easterly winds combined with high tides and a storm surge. 

At Maenporth, on the night of Thursday March 1st most of the sand was thrown over the road, along with huge tree branches, debris, rubble, concrete, fishing nets, stones and rocks. The car park as we knew it is completely unrecognisable. Huge boulders which the owners had placed to try and stop the sea disintegrating the car park have been shifted a really long way. 

Worrying, more could be yet to come with more wind and high tides tonight.

Luckily no-one was hurt, and also the cafe building has avoided damage, but many of their tables have been whisked up by the waves and broken. The scale of reconstruction required is huge and will be expensive due to the amount of work needed by a JCB. The Council do not help them either physically or financially.

I know Maenporth Beach is loved by many people, both locals and holiday makers. If they don't get help from the people who use the beach, the car park will remain unusable for quite some time and therefore reduce the availability of the beach. This will have a direct impact on the cafe and the business.

Any help to bring Maenporth Beach back to life again, would be fantastic, even if it's just £1.
