Aim
To create a working kitchen to help sell weekly beverages & food to raise funds for our rugby section - allowing us to keep running for free
Who are we?
Established in 1896 situated in the middle of Tremorfa St Albans provides rugby for teams at all levels. This includes Senior, junior (13-16) and minis (5-12).
Back in 2014 the mini & junior section was non existent. Through the hard work of volunteers within the club we now have a thriving mini section with just over 200 children & a senior side managing to put out 2 teams weekly.
At mini & junior level we offer weekly training & games to our young people at no cost. This is down to the hard work of our volunteers and the whole club embedded into our fundraising. The kitchen cabin being one of our main sources of income which is why we come to this platform today to raise funds to make this better suited.
We are community club who provide a safe place for our children to thrive within any make lifelong friends.
The Cabin
People who come to the buns have probably seen us selling from our cabin which raises crucial funds for our mini & junior sections. We provide hot food & drinks on match days.
The money raised from the cabin is vital to us keep the children playing, to provide equipment to help their development, and for the ongoing training of coaches, referees and first aiders.
Current Issues
We ripped out our old kitchen thinking that we would only need to repair the roof unfortunately when doing this we found more problems which we are afraid if we put the kitchen back in there it will only face the same problems in a few years. Water is getting in and from the pictures below you will see the state the cabin is in.
We are lucky that we have a brand new container which we purchased for storage but after some discussions we have decided long term it will be better to kit out our kitchen into that one! So the important question…
How will the money be spent
- to add a new kitchen to our container
- cut out a hatch in the front to allow us to serve
- install electrics & lighting into the container
- improve our facilities to aid our development plan to make us sustainable

We hope with these improvements we can make a much better cabin allowing us to, and be able to offer more to our customers.
By making these improvements we hope to secure a brighter future not only for the hut but for our mini and junior section as a whole.
