If you support Nurses, their patients and our NHS then please consider donating to our vital work.
Everything you give will build our movement of frontline Nurses.
Nurses and allied health professionals worked tirelessly to keep our patients safe. We worked overtime without pay, worked through holidays and missed important events with friends and family to keep services running despite a decade of brutal cuts and huge staff shortages. We were on our knees. Then Covid hit.
We've had a year like no other. 1,500+ colleagues are dead, tens of thousands more are struggling with the physical and mental costs of trying to do the impossible day after day, week after week. We've poured our hearts, souls and lives into keeping things going. Despite PPE shortages, despite many of us catching the virus, despite hamfisted management by the government, we kept things afloat. And what do they think that was worth? 3%.
This is not good enough. It also excludes whole areas of the NHS without whom we wouldn't have made it this far. We're looking down the barrel of another wave and many of us can't even afford to put food on the table. It's unacceptable.
In addition, we had approx. 43,000 vacant Nurse positions in England alone before the pandemic hit. How are we going to recruit to these positions when we can't even offer a living wage? We're stretched too thin and the result is patient care suffers. Despite our best efforts, we can't provide the care we want to, and that our patients deserve, when there simply aren't enough of us to go round.
These are unprecedented times but together, we are stronger, and the response is coming from communities across the country. Enough is enough, we need change!
We have to fight. We have to find the strength despite everything we've been through, and are still going through, to stand up for our patients and for ourselves! Your donation will enable us do that by providing training, tools, support and resources such as banners, placards, posters and flyers.
Nurses United we stand, and united we’ll win!
