I will row 100km in the month of November in support of this fabulous woman-led, boxing, fitness and all round empowerment community hub.

I am combining my two favourite sports of rowing and boxing to raise funds for this project so close to my heart. I will be rowing 100km both on land and water throughout the month of November to support NPBA, the first women led boxing club in the UK to restore a space for the benefit of all of the communities in the Upper Valley in Calderdale and beyond.

Northern Powerhouse Boxing Academy is proud to be the first women-led boxing club in the UK. Their mission is to make positive contributions to the physical and mental well-being of our community by providing a safe, inclusive space where everyone is welcomed and empowered through boxing, exercise and social inclusion.

Our goal is to refurbish the ground floor of The Trades in Hebden Bridge, a space that has been closed since the 2015 floods. We plan to create a flood resilient, energy efficient community hub. This new facility will house our boxing club whilst also offering a safe space for people of all ages to participate in structured exercise, socialise and access support. A key focus of our project is creating a space where young people and women can engage in structured activity or simply relax and feel safe.

Making this space flood proof and sound proof is expensive but we have already secured the majority of funding that we need. There remains the final 10% of the funding needed to reach our target of the £320,000 we need you breath life into this historic building for the benefit of the community it serves.
