Help Me See My Dad After A Tragic Fire in Moscow

Aim

I would like to see my family in Moscow in light of my father's tragic death.

Time, as they say, is the most valuable asset we have.

Unbeknownst to me, I tragically lost my dad in a house fire on Monday 30th March 2026 while living abroad in Rio de Janeiro and his funeral has just passed this Good Friday, 3rd April.

Having been unable to find work for nearly a year after hundreds of applications and being rejected for remote roles, and jobs in the UK, I was unable to travel to Moscow last year as his health and speech were deteriorating.

His entire house was engulfed in a fire with him in it on Sunday night, as was his neighbour's who helped me get in touch with him late last year as he was becoming reclusive.

Alas, he wasn't able to communicate over the phone and that's when I knew something was seriously wrong.

He was a great man and deserved a lot of care, and attention. My greatest regret is that I was unable to see him sooner and this money will go towards my travel costs to Moscow from Rio, via Europe and then Turkey to see my family - given the flight restrictions.

The photos on my LinkedIn are just a few from an album which I had carefully put together, but now would never have the opportunity to show him. Or gift him on his birthday on 1st June when he would have turned 61 years old.
