Aim

TLDR: I'm chronically ill, disabled and am trying to raise funds for a power add-on for my wheelchair. Please donate and share if able 😁 ty

I've come to a point where I need to do something I've been reluctant (but needing) to do for ages and create this crowd funder.

Those of you who are close to me will know how much I have struggled with dislocations, subluxations, pain and fatigue (to name a few of my most prominent symptoms) for many years now. I have a condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS) which causes all of the above (as well as a bunch of skin related symptoms and other unpleasant internal organ problems). I also have nerve damage from dislocations, severe migraines and POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) which causes me to be incredibly dizzy basically all the time unless I'm lying down, and I often pass out - it's not this simple, google it if you want to know more, there are more symptoms it affects me in many ways.

For these reasons for the last 7 or so years I have relied on mobility aids to get around safely. My body is now at a point where I can't walk (or even stand) without causing damage or feeling really poorly/in pain, but I continue to have to walk a little when I need to be somewhere because I don’t have the right mobility aids.

I need a new wheelchair (waiting to get one from the NHS, looks like I'll have it in September), one that I can use myself so I'm looking to raise money to buy a power attachment (turns it into an electric wheelchair - NHS were going to give me a powerchair but my flat is too small so I am getting a folding manual one, and then I have to self fund a power add-on) for my new chair so that I can limit fatigue, and dislocations to my upper body from having to self-propel (which I can't reeeeeeally do anyway).

The power add-on I need is called an Alber Efix. I have trialled this fantastic piece of kit and was amazed by how much freedom it gave me! It will allow me to move my wheelchair at a touch of a button and help keep my pain manageable. I am really looking forward to being able to go out independently, get on public transport, visit friends and family, travel and just generally live a fuller life.

I'm also hoping to raise funds for a trackwheel. This is a wheel that I will fit to the front of my wheelchair which essentially makes rough terrains easier to handle, which means I'll be able to go to the countryside! 😍

I have basically no disposable income, because it is EXPENSIVE being disabled, and I can't work much because I'm not well enough, and power attachments are very expensive, hence my asking you for help. I appreciate everyone is also skint af, even if you can give like £1 please do, you may feel it's not a significant enough amount to give but it is and I will appreciate every penny!!!

Thanks for reading (and donating if you can).
