I am raising £2,000 to enrol in the LSE Online Certificate in Data Analysis for Management. The application deadline is 6th February.
Hi! I’m Rhea and this is my story towards a crowdfunding.
I am raising funds to enrol in the LSE Online Certificate in Data Analysis for Management. This course will help me gain practical, future-ready skills that are essential for leadership and decision-making, especially in the arts and cultural sector where I want to build my career.
Right now, I am unable to self fund this course due to ongoing visa costs and living expenses in the UK. That is why I am asking for help.
MY STORY
I moved from India to the UK completely alone, leaving my mother and little sister behind to build a better future for all of us. It was not an easy decision. It meant leaving home, emotional safety, an familiarity in order to learn how to stand on my own in a new place.
One of the biggest challenges I face is something I cannot change easily and that is my visa and passport. Because I require visa sponsorship, many opportunities close before they begin, even when I am qualified and experienced. I am currently working while also trying to secure a visa that would allow me to stay and work independently and this is a process that will costs me about £9,000–£10,000 and additional charge for a solicitor for a stability. I have been working constantly to save for this.
Every part of this visa process is being funded by my own savings. I have chosen not to ask my mother for financial help, because she has already given me so much. My education, my values, and the strength to stand on my own feet. She raised me to be independent, and I want to honour that by taking responsibility for my own path and making her proud.
My Master’s degree alone cost nearly £45,000, and although I was fortunate to receive sponsorship due to academic merit, the years since have not been easy. Balancing living expenses, visa costs, and long-term career planning has made it impossible, at this moment, to set aside additional money for professional development, no matter how important it is to me.
I am verycurious by everything around me and I love learning growing through experience. I carry the skills I learn with me rather than leaving them behind.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Arts Management. But I realised that in order to grow, I constantly need to grow my knowledge. This course feels like a missing piece, not because I am behind, but because I want to be better.
My long-term goal is to work in a gallery or museum, contributing not only creatively but thoughtfully helping cultural institutions grow, adapt, and survive in a changing world.
Thankyou for taking the time to read.
