LESC, a rifle and clay shooting club in West Cornwall, has been completely destroyed by wildfire. We're raising funds to rebuild
Lands End Shooting Club has been a home for sport shooters in West Cornwall since 1982.
For more than forty years, generations of members have learned, trained, competed and socialised here. Some of our members have been with us for decades, while in recent years we've been fortunate enough to welcome a growing number of younger shooters into the sport.
In a matter of hours, a wildfire destroyed it all.
The clubhouse, firing point, backstops, target systems, storage containers and virtually all of the club's equipment were lost. The fire also destroyed junior trees and wildlife habitat around the border of the range that members had helped to establish and maintain over the years.
Thankfully, no firearms or ammunition are stored on site and nobody was injured.
Anyone involved in shooting sports knows how difficult it can be to build and maintain a good facility. What took decades of effort, volunteer work and investment to create has been wiped out almost overnight.
While the club is insured, insurance will not cover the full cost of replacing everything that has been lost. We now face the challenge of rebuilding the range, replacing essential equipment and creating the facilities needed to get the club operational again.
We're asking the shooting and field sports community for help.
Every donation, no matter the size, will go towards supporting the club's recovery and rebuilding efforts. Our initial fundraising target is £5,000, although the true cost of restoring the club will be considerably higher.
Despite the devastation, there is one positive. Rebuilding gives us the opportunity to create a better facility for the future. We hope to combine our clubhouse and firing point into a single building, improve the layout of the range, and introduce more modern and modular target systems that will benefit both existing members and future generations of shooters.
If you've ever enjoyed a day on the range, value the role that clubs play in introducing new people to the sport, or simply want to help a long-established shooting club recover from disaster, we would be extremely grateful for your support. Your support will help us get LESC back on its feet for both our long-standing members and the next generation of shooters.
Thank you for helping us rebuild.
⚠️ Facility Safety & Compliance Statement
For the avoidance of doubt, this fundraising campaign is exclusively for physical building repairs, facility infrastructure, and club grounds equipment. Thankfully, no firearms or ammunition are ever stored on-site, and no firearms or ammunition are financed or sold through this project.
