Help Keep Southwater Skatepark Rolling!
Southwater Skatepark is free-to-use and has been a cornerstone of our community for years, providing a safe and vibrant space for skaters, BMX riders, and scooter enthusiasts of all ages to express themselves and hone their skills. Now, we need your help to keep this vital resource thriving.
The opening of Southwater Skate Park, Ben's Field, Stakers Lane marks a significant milestone in the community's history, made possible by the diligent efforts of Southwater Parish Council and its skate park project rebuild earmarked reserves, Section 106 contributions, and the Insurance Settlement received after the unfortunate fire incident in August 2020.
Why Southwater Skatepark Matters:
- Community Hub: A gathering place for people to connect, share experiences, exercise, challenge their abilities and build friendships.
- Youth Engagement: Offers a positive and active environment for young people, promoting physical activities, mental health, fitness and creativity.
- Local Pride: A beloved landmark that showcases the spirit and talent of our community, with users travelling regularly from as far as Kent.
The Challenge:
Weather, wear and tear, and constant use have taken their toll on the skatepark. To ensure it remains safe and enjoyable for everyone, we need to invest in essential maintenance and upgrades. This includes resurfacing the ramps, repairing structures, and enhancing the overall safety features.
We would also like to be able to organise more exciting events, like skate jams for the users of the skate park.
Maintenance cost:
£1,690.49 per annum PLUS
2-5 plug repairs: £150-250 per year
Wear Strips that need replacing every 2 years:
Replace Wear Strip - Jump Box £ 796.55 ea
Replace Wear Strip - Volcano £ 995.60 ea
Skate Jam:
Estimated cost for an event is £ 4000.00, which would cover the barriers, medical provision, traffic management and the amazing work of Team Extreme for the day.
Our skate jam and the opening day of the new skate park after the fire in 2020, was a huge success last year and we would like to put on an even better event next.

How you can play your part?
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a donation. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get. Times are hard at the moment, so we understand that not everyone will be able to make a donation, but if you share our project as widely as you can, you'll still be helping massively.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out on social media during the campaign and in our press releases to local and national news platforms once our Crowdfunder has finished.
4. Create a fundraiser of your own. Use the button on our page to get started. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
All your donations and help are appreciated.
