Help Kirsty Knight and The Ortons campaign for two more independent councillors to serve on Peterborough City Council on Thursday 7th May.
Over the last two years, something very special has been happening in Orton.
With the support of residents, independent councillor Kirsty Knight has helped bring community back into Orton. The Santa Sleigh brings people together and has also helped get local businesses involved. Our community manages a Food hub which can be relied on (no questions asked) by anyone who finds their purse is empty. We have managed to organise food hampers for struggling families and Kirsty has enabled our community to help supply residents facing sudden homelessness with all sorts of basic essentials. She has also been helping residents with planning issues, school places, SEND challenges and moments of crisis.
Much of this work never appears on social media. It simply happens because someone in our community needs help and reaches out. Our community understands the value of an elected representative who is present and responsive.
This has never been about party politics. It’s always been about neighbours looking after neighbours.
To continue that work, Ray and Nick are standing as Independent candidates in the upcoming local elections, endorsed by and working alongside Kirsty to keep building a stronger community in Orton.

Nick Penniall is standing in Orton Longueville.

And Ray Knight is standing in Orton Waterville.

Of course, standing as Independents means there is no party machine and no membership fees to fund them. But this also means that if you help fund your own local candidate, you know exactly who is backing them! So it would be great if you join our crowd and help fund their campaign.
Printing and delivering election leaflets costs around £1,200 per candidate. This Crowdfunder will go some way to cover some of those basic costs. Election leaflets help to ensure that residents - even those who are not on social media - can hear directly from Ray and Nick.
Residents value a truly local, independent voice working in and for our community, so please consider donating. Even £1 makes a real difference.
Even the smallest helps to keep Orton’s voice independent.
Thank you for your support.
