URGENT SUPPORT NEEDED - Please read and help if you can.

Young woman at risk of returning to domestic violence.

Yesterday, I was introduced to a Cambridge University student who is due to return home for Christmas in a matter of days.

What she returns to at home is violent, volatile and unsafe. She is terrified but running out of options.

She grew up in abusive household and now risks having to return to that same abusive household if she can’t find a way to support herself.

The way her accommodation works means it is available only for term time use unless she pays more money to stay out of term time.

Her student loan doesn’t cover this.

She told me she is not only terrified of cutting off her family and having no one here in Cambridge, but that she doesn’t know how she is going to support herself. Her uni friends will all be returning home and she will be left in an unfamiliar city with all the people she knows back celebrating Christmas with their families.

“I feel like no one else is having to work 40 hour weeks just to keep themselves at university and I’m going to have to do that all through the break while everyone is home with their families just so I don’t have to go home to mine.”

I’ve offered for her to spend Christmas with us and I hope she’ll take me up on that offer.

But she needs finances to keep her in stable accommodation over Christmas and take the pressure off a little bit next year so she can focus on her studies. Getting her degree is her way of staying away from the abuse.

I’m scared for her. I’ve seen the pictures - the cuts and bruises - I’ve seen the sadness and fear and I really want to help.

I know I shared a Crowdfunder last week (and THANK YOU to everyone who helped save two women from homelessness over Christmas) - but there is more to do.

The thought of any young woman being in that situation - over Christmas or *anytime* - is sickening to me and I know it will be to you, too.

Can you help me raise the money needed so she doesn’t have to be?

This one feels personal. Thank you so much in advance.❤️
