Rising costs of paper and other materials, Brexit-related issues, and impending major bills are really kicking our butt. So we're calling on our communities to Help Haunt!
Haunt Publishing is a wee independent press based in Fife, Scotland. Dedicated to exploring both traditional and contemporary Gothic and horror literature, Haunt holds a flickering candle to global and underrepresented voices. We publish books with the curse of unputdownability, that keep a reader up all night. Books that provoke unease, terror and dread. Basically, we publish books that haunt readers long after consuming them.
We have started this short fundraising drive to tide us over for the next wee while. It's so tough as a small indie publisher to navigate this climate, but we believe in our books and authors and know you do too! Funds will go towards bills, materials costs (including print runs), marketing, overheads and author payments.
Everyone who donates will - as a thank you - receive a discount voucher for our website, which can be redeemed against our books (codes will stay live until the end of 2023). The more you donate, the bigger the voucher!

Reasons to support Haunt
- We consider ourselves an author-led publisher. We pay our authors double the industry-standard royalty rate and we pay them for launches and promotional events.
- We support authors who have been historically underrepresented in the publishing industry. We publish authors of colour, queer authors, neurodivergent authors and authors from working-class backgrounds.
- We highlight Gothic and horror from non-traditional perspectives (although we do love a creepy manor in the countryside too!).
- We aim to publish as ethically and sustainably as possible. This means we don't print unless we have to and use recyclable postage and packing materials. We try to publish in as many formats as we can - print, digital and audio - to ensure as many people as possible can access and enjoy our books.
- We publish incredible books! Our books suit anyone who likes a taste of (or full-on) Gothic, horror and generally dark fiction. From folkloric retellings to dark fairy-tales, from haunted houses to sinister secrets, from the misty Highlands to the dusty roads of the Deep South, we've got you covered.
