Sadly, it's becoming harder to cover the costs of hosting our gigs. So, the time has come to ask for your help to keep doing what we do!
Having been hosting our inclusive gigs for 10 years, it's now becoming increasingly difficult to cover the costs of consistently putting on these events. As a completely non-profit organisation, we cover all event costs purely through ticket sales and out of our own pocket. We’re completely committed to continuing to ensure our gigs are reasonably priced and paying all bands and artists fairly, but recently doing this has become harder due to the increased costs of everything, as well as it being less common for people to buy advance tickets to events. It's now sadly got to the point that we are going to have to start cancelling gigs if we're not confident that we'll be able to cover costs in advance.
For this reason, we thought we’d reach out to our beloved community! We know times are hard for everyone right now, but if you do have anything to spare we’d massively appreciate a little help so that we’re able to continue doing what we do. If we’re able to have some money put aside as a back-up fund to cover costs when needed, it could be a really important life-line that would mean we don’t have to cancel any events and let the amazing bands down!
It really would mean the world (if you’re in a position to do so) if you’re able to contribute anything at all to our little fund, so that we can continue to host our regular nights of gorgeous live music by and for women and the queer community.
Another way to help would be to buy advance tickets to our events, and encourage people you know to do the same! We recognise that it’s not always easy to make plans ahead of time these days, but having an idea of numbers before the event can really help us to gauge whether or not we’ll be able to cover the costs of everything. This year, we had to cancel a gig for the first time ever due to advance tickets not selling, and it broke our hearts!
Even if you’re not able to fully commit to buying a full price ticket, please know that there’s always the option to get in touch with us and let us know that you’re hoping to come along and pay whatever you can on the door. We’ll never turn anyone away for lack of funds, and knowing that some people might be doing this could help to save the event!
During these scary times, being able to continue putting on these joyous and inclusive events for you seems more important than ever, so any help at all would hugely appreciated!
