Helping Man About Town recover from flood damage, replacing essentials and supporting cash flow while we rebuild.

Our Story & Our Pledge

Many of you have seen the images & videos of the damage inside Man About Town, while others have heard bits of what has happened.

A significant leak from the property above our shop occurred from the adjoining property upstairs causing water to pour into the premises. By the time it was discovered & stopped extensive water damage had affected the ceilings, walls, fixtures and fittings throughout the barbershop.

The flooding has damaged equipment, furniture, stock, bespoke fixtures and the shop itself, leaving us facing an unexpected interruption to our business while repairs are carried out. As a small independent business, being unable to trade normally doesn’t just affect the building—it affects our livelihood, our team and our ability to keep everything running day to day.

We’ve been overwhelmed by the messages of support from our amazing customers, and one suggestion has come up time and time again: “Please set up a GoFundMe.”

Truthfully, we never wanted to be in a position where we felt we had to ask for help. We are actively pursuing the appropriate legal and insurance routes to recover our losses, but these processes can take many months, and unfortunately our bills, wages and day-to-day business costs can’t wait.

The funds will provide vital short-term cash flow while our business is disrupted, helping us manage the immediate loss of earnings and continue meeting essential business commitments as we work to reopen.
