Help to elect Glyn Preston as a Liberal Democrat MS for the Gwynedd Maldwyn (Gwynedd & Montgomeryshire) in the May 2026 Senedd Elections
Hi, I'm Glyn Preston.
I'm standing in the elections in May, because I want to fight for the area that I've lived in all of my life. Montgomeryshire is a really special place, but for too long it's not had the representation it deserves. On all the key metrics - NHS waiting lists, access to secure well-paid jobs, and decent public services - this area lags well behind. I want to be a champion for this area, so that we can start to turn these things around.
I'm also really concerned about the rise of populism across Wales (and the UK), and electing a strong team of Welsh Liberal Democrats to the Senedd this May is going to be crucial in fighting the twin evils of hard-right populism (Reform UK) and Welsh nationalism (Plaid Cymru). We've shown that we've been able to take on Reform UK and win in Montgomeryshire, defeating them in a hard-fought Council by-election in July 2025.
Electing me to the Senedd in May, will also be transformational for our electoral prospects in Montgomeryshire & Powys moving forwards. With the local elections coming in 2027, this election serves as the perfect springboard for success 12 months later, where we aim to take overall control of Powys County Council (which we run as a minority currently).
So what am I raising money for?
We need to raise £8,000 over the course of the coming weeks, in order to reach as many voters as possible through targeted and posted mailings, and through social media advertising. We know that we've got a compelling story to tell, but the challenge is delivering it in sufficient volume and frequency to be able to prove we can win. We have had a strong start already, and the response on the doorstep has been great, but we need some additional funds to get us across the line.
With your generous support, we can win in May, and in doing so, send a message that our area rejects the politics of grievance and blame, by electing me as the Liberal Democrat MS for Gwynedd Maldwyn
