Save BASTA - BASTA needs your help to reopen.
After 8 amazing years of serving great pizza and making so many new friends, we have been forced to close due to rising costs and unmanageable energy bills.
Many of you already know, Basta has always been more than just a pizza place. It’s been a meeting spot, a slice of comfort, a little bit of magic in our community. We’ve been humbled by your support over the years.
But today, we face a real challenge. Like so many small businesses right now, rising costs have hit us hard: ingredients, energy, rent, labour. Everything is up. We’ve tried to absorb as much as we can, but we’re at a breaking point due to unforeseen significant costs. As someone said "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth" !
According to recent industry reports, 1 in 5 small businesses (18 %) fear they may be forced to close permanently if conditions don’t improve. And many business owners say the current economic pressure is even more intense than during the pandemic. Meanwhile, it’s estimated that in 2024 the UK lost around 37 shops each day as the high street suffers. We don’t want Basta to become a footnote in those statistics.
So here’s what we’re doing: we’re opening a crowdfunding campaign to raise the funds we need to reopen fully, restore staff, and get the oven back on.
