We are Galop, the national LGBT+ anti-abuse charity. We work with thousands of LGBT+ people every year who’ve experienced abuse and violence.
We’ve been supporting our community for almost 40 years – and we need your help to continue supporting victims of conversion therapy, with our dedicated, expert helpline. But we urgently need £10,000 to keep the helpline open.
A wonderfully generous match funder has stepped in to save the day and will be DOUBLING all donations made over the next two weeks (up to £5,000) to keep the helpline open. We’ll be posting daily updates, along with personal messages from our donor, Oona, on our quest to keep the helpline open!
Our community and our allies come together when it matters most. This helpline will be a lifeline for those in our community suffering this abuse, and together we can be there for everyone who needs us.
Please donate whatever you can afford now, to ensure victims of conversion therapy get the expert care they deserve.
Three months ago, we launched the National Conversion Therapy Helpline with no funding, because we knew the LGBT+ community needed us.
Since then, our helpline workers have supported victims and survivors during the highly triggering government consultation – but we’re not out of the woods yet. Conversion therapy is still happening, right here in the UK, every day.
Conversion therapy is where a person or an institution aims to “change, suppress, or cure” someone’s sexuality or gender identity. This can involve beatings, “corrective” rape, prolonged psychological abuse, and more.
We need to hit our £10,000 target to keep the phone lines open.
