Help elect Dr Zubir Ahmed to Westminster

Aim

For 15+ years I've had the privilege to serve Glasgow South West as a surgeon. Now I'm seeking to be your experienced voice in Westminster.

2024 will be a general election year like no other. In the midst of a climate and cost of living crisis it will be an election that sets the destiny of a generation.  We finally have chance to rid ourselves of command and control SNP and Tory Politics riddled by division and self interest. The only way to do this is to elect Glasgow Labour MPs who can help form a UK Labour government and put Glasgow South West at the centre of power once again.

Supporting me will mean someone who understands almost every community in the constituency with lived experience of their lives. 

I was born and brought up in Govanhill, as the oldest of five children to Pakistani immigrant parents. Through the sacrifices of my Mum and Dad (a black cab driver who still works despite being in his 80s), I was able to secure a place at Glasgow medical school and further local and international training in transplant and vascular surgery.

I now practice as a surgeon in our NHS, serving the people of Glasgow South West and the west of Scotland.  My personal and clinical experiences have brought into sharp focus that the opportunities I had to succeed are being lost to a whole generation because of SNP and Tory infighting.

After bruising Tory austerity, COVID 19, the cost of living crisis and monumental SNP financial mismanagement, our politicians have wasted the promise of the 21st century. The wrong people are in the wrong jobs caring only for their own fragile postions. 

Only the Labour party is offering candidates with the experience, competence and energy that will finally unlock the potential of this new century and make sure the intergenerational promise of our children's lives being better than our own is met once again. 

Only Labour has the clear alternative plan for the people of Scotland and the UK of cleaner affordable energy, of better employment rights and a plan to grow our business and our economy. The way to that prosperity is a UK Labour government and the road to Labour Government cannot happen without a Glasgow South West Labour MP.

It is in that spririt I stand ready to serve, as your MP for Glasgow South West.
