Children in Ukraine are suffering and so is their education. Schools have been hit by missiles. They desperately need your support.

by Robin Jowit in Teddington, England, United Kingdom

School children in Ukraine, whose education is suffering because of the war, are ready to help rebuild their country by excelling in science and engineering subjects.  Please support our project to supply one school, and later more, with additional high quality equipment to enable them to graduate with outstanding results in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) subjects.

On our first Ukraine project for schools, we have exceeded our £50,000 target to support some of the schools Robin visited in 2023. We have supplied over 100  laptops, storage batteries to 3 schools to provide electricity during electrical shortages and other educational items including a manikin to practice artificial respiration and colour printer.  This project is in hand and the logistics are being handled by Rotary UK and a Rotarian in Kyiv.

Recently Rotary was offered US $ 20,000 to prepare a new project to help the education of children in Ukraine, as long as it was carried out via a reputable charity such as us.  We, Rotary, have already received additional commitments so the project is alive and progressing with wide interest.

The rebuilding of Ukraine infrastructure will cost over £400 billion and it will not commence until the war is over, so we have decided to start rebuilding Ukraine via the STEM education of secondary pupils, initially at one school and thereafter others.

Additional fundraising is in progress, and the first school to be helped is one that suffered badly during the 2022 invasion.  When we know what laboratory and engineering equipment is available at the school, we will provide further top quality equipment to make this school the first choice location to achieve an -

The graduates will become the future engineers and entrepreneurs of Ukraine, so CONSIDER THIS THE START OF REBUILDING UKRAINE.

This project is unique and, as you probably know, Rotarians do all their work PRO BONO so 100% of all donations are committed to the project.   However, it requires high profile publicity and support via national press, TV, Livery companies, charities and major donors so, in addition to considering a donation, we are appealing to you to let Robin Jowit ([email protected])  know if you have any contacts who could assist us.

Robin will return to Ukraine, at his own cost and without insurance, when additional equipment has been installed at the first school.

Our target is £50,000.   As examples, a Laser Cutter & tools costs about  £3,000, welding kit £1,000 and Boyles Law digital apparatus less than £100 and we have a team of experts here and in Ukraine to deliver the project
