Aim: We are raising money for DE-MYS-TIFY, to continue the work we do supporting actors from low socio-economic backgrounds.
DE-MYS-TIFY was founded in 2022, by Actor/Director/Writer, Lilly Driscoll. With the aim to support actors from low socio-economic backgrounds.
For the first two years DE-MYS-TIFY was run solely by Lilly, relying on donations, volunteers and sheer willpower. To offer support in an increasingly difficult industry, that isn't designed for people without contacts, family money or support.
“DE-MYS-TIFY was exactly what I needed. It came at a point where I had no confidence, and felt like an intruder in arts spaces. Lilly helped me to find the power in my background and realise I'm exactly who the arts industry needs! Without the bursary I would never have been able to attend, and I (and the arts industry) would be poorer for it.”
After running a fully funded DE-MYS-TIFY term last year, it is with great sadness to announce that we haven’t received Arts Council funding to support a new term this year. With two failed attempts, we now aim to raise money to help keep the company afloat, so that we can continue to support and champion actors from low socio-economic backgrounds.
Last term participants received £100 pd to attend workshops with industry professionals, a £15 pd travel bursary, ongoing wellbeing support, mentoring, a full set of headshots, industry panels, a casting director workshop, work on text, theatre & screen acting, professional development, they each received footage and an industry showcase.
Now more than ever we need our community to back us, to not let the lack of funding silence three years of hard work, and an artistic, creative community of working-class spirit.
We are so proud that in our three years of running, we have been able to offer free, discounted and paid for training for our actors, and we know the model works. So please help us continue!

Please join us on the 17th of July, 7pm at BOLD Elephant, for a night of new-writing, poetry and stand-up! Including never before seen pieces from award-winning writers. All to raise money in order to aid the future of DE-MYS-TIFY.
A night of incredible work from the likes of Anna Jordan, Abi Zakarian, Morgan Lloyd-Malcolm and more. Performances by former DE-MYS-TIFY students. Stand-up from the fantastic Am Stubberfield, and a raffle with some amazing prizes!
