Aim

Help Crumpled Paper Productions grow by funding printed books, merchandise, events and the next stage of our independent publishing journey.

I’m Christine Smith, the founder of Crumpled Paper Productions, an independent publishing business based in West Sussex. I write as C L Smith and illustrate as Linden Kristie, creating imaginative, character-led children’s stories featuring Barney, Hunter, Friday and a growing cast of friends.

Crumpled Paper Productions began with a simple idea: to create warm, entertaining books that children can enjoy again and again. Since then, that idea has grown into a real business. Our website and The Book Nook shop are now live, and our first five digital flipbooks are already available to buy. The next stage is to bring more of those stories into print and take CPP beyond the screen and into homes, events and, eventually, independent bookshops.

I’m building CPP carefully and independently, with support from family, friends and collaborators who have helped with everything from character inspiration and website testing to future merchandise ideas. I want to create a small publishing business with personality — one where readers get to know the characters, follow their adventures and feel part of the journey as the range grows.

The money raised through this Crowdfunder will help us take that next step. It will contribute towards physical book production and BookVault set-up costs, promotional materials, event displays, bookmarks, character keyrings and other merchandise, as well as stock for fairs and future opportunities to introduce the books to new readers.

We are already working on new titles, new characters and new ideas for The Book Nook, so this campaign isn’t about starting from scratch. It is about giving a young independent business the resources it needs to grow properly.

Every contribution, whether large or small, will help us put more books into children’s hands, attend more events, develop new products and continue building a creative little world around the stories.
