BYC has been invited to represent GB in the World Choir Games in Flanders 2020. Our children desperately need your help to raise funds.

With any further funds that we raise we will offer full bursaries to those members who are really struggling to meet the costs of the trip. Our members will pay a contribution and funds raised will subsidise costs for all members. This additional money will allow us to really support our most vulnerable members fully and ensure that their families are not under financial pressure.
We are asking you to support fantastic organisation and a registered charity that supports over 450 children and young people aged 4-24 years old in an area of significant deprivation. We aim to give young people amazing life-changing opportunities regardless of their financial background.

We are seeking to take 78 of our members aged between 10-24
years of age on a trip of a lifetime. Barnsley Youth Choir has been invited to
represent Great Britain in the 2020 World Choir Games. This competition is
often referred to as the Choir Olympics and is the most important choral competition
in the world. Around 600 choirs of over 100 nationalities will take part –
around 20,000 singers in total – in the beautiful region of Flanders, Belgium.
This is the biggest and most important competition in choral history. Its scale and standard is unprecedented and our young people will be exposed to the finest singers in the world and grow so much from the experience.

The children have already raised £20,000 at a Sponsored Singathon where they sang for 13 hours non-stop without a break through the night – a huge undertaking and incredibly hard work! They are planning all sorts of other events. The whole organisation is working so hard to raise money but these young people really need your help.

Barnsley Youth Choir is a registered charity and voluntary organisation that supports an amazing team of children who live in an area of rich and proud heritage but extreme deprivation. We provide outstanding opportunities for over 400 young people to access world class training, give exceptional performances in this country and abroad, empower young people and strengthen connections throughout the local community; irrespective of a child’s background or financial status.
Barnsley Youth Choir has become a flagship ensemble that represents the town on a local, national and international stage. BYC received the Queens Award for Voluntary Service in 2017 - something that we are incredibly proud of and reflects the huge amount of work that our team of volunteers put in to support our young people.
BYC is now ranked 5th in the World Rankings and is currently the highest ranked GB choir in the Interkultur World Rankings.
