Help Build The Haven Community Coffee House

Aim

Help refit The Haven community coffee house - a place for coffee, community and connection in North Birmingham.

Located on Newton Road in the heart of Scott Arms, Birmingham, The Haven Community Coffee House is being created as a welcoming, community space where people can gather, connect, and find support through conversation, creativity, and community. The project is led by Victory Outreach Birmingham and aims to transform an empty retail space into a vibrant coffee house that serves local residents of all ages. 

The vision for The Haven was born out of a real local need. After moving to Great Barr, founders Colin and Natasha Ruddock recognised there were very few welcoming café spaces in the area where people could meet, work, socialise, or simply enjoy a coffee together. 

Our Vision

The Haven Community Coffee House will be more than a coffee shop. It will be a safe, inclusive and uplifting environment designed to combat loneliness, encourage connection, and strengthen community wellbeing. The coffee house will host:

• Dementia-friendly coffee mornings
• Youth creative art sessions and social evenings
• Parent and toddler clubs
• Community support groups
• Volunteer opportunities
• Safe social space for isolated individuals, eg. the elderly.

The Haven is rooted in Christian values and community care, with profits reinvested into local outreach projects, supported housing initiatives, and restorative programmes helping vulnerable young people and those overcoming addiction. 

Why We Need Your Help

We are crowdfunding to help complete the full refit of the premises and officially open our doors this Spring 2026. We thank those that have already given.  Our goal is to raise £5,000 to finish transforming the space into a warm, welcoming coffee house for the community. 

Your support will directly fund:

• Furniture
• Crockery, glassware and cutlery

Every donation helps bring this vision to life and creates a lasting impact for the Great Barr community.
