Help create Tilly's! A proper local where everyone is welcome, and the hours slip by.

Hello all.

I am raising funds for my first solo venture: Tilly's, a neighbourhood restaurant and bar. All donations are “rewarded” with either a voucher or a life time discount. Check below for more info!

It comes as no surprise that hospitality has sunk its claws into me. In its simplest form, service is a performance. Admittedly, more a slightly chaotic improvisation than say a Shakespearean masterpiece, but a performance nonetheless.

Those in hospitality get to be the facilitators of blossoming romance, reunions, milestones and, above all else, human connection. It's an industry that welcomes everyone, and plays to the strengths of those who would perhaps be lost in amongst the "typical" working world. It rewards personality, resilience, creativity and care in equal measure, and over the years I have found a real sense of belonging within it.

I hope Tilly's will become a place for every moment in your week. First date? Birthday? Need to flog that dead horse one more time? COME TO TILLY'S. It will be a simple spot, doing a couple of things really well. I have been inspired largely by Portugal, by long lunches and even longer candlelight dinners. Imagine a crisp glass of wine, and a menu where you could settle in and eat delicious snack after delicious snack. A melting pot of west Londons brilliant and diverse people. A true local. Unfussy, simple, welcoming. That is my aim.

So, what do I need to get this little venture off the ground?

It's well know that hospitality is on its knees right now, so I go into this fully aware that it's a slightly mad time to be opening something new. But despite the challenges, I genuinely believe there is still room for thoughtful, independent hospitality. More than that, I believe Tilly's can become a place that people feel proud to call their local.

I'm aiming to raise funds to help cover:

Equipment

Furniture and fittings

Redecoration and essential building works

Opening and licensing costs

Signage

Every pound raised will go directly towards bringing Tilly's to life. Wherever possible, I'll be sourcing second-hand furniture and equipment, restoring pieces myself, and building the space carefully and sustainably. This is about creating a place with character, warmth and a genuine sense of belonging.

I wouldn't be here without the incredible people who have supported, encouraged and taught me throughout my journey in hospitality, so a huge thank you to every one of you.

Now it's time to take a chance on myself.
