Help Bow get the second chance she deserves.
London, Greater London, United Kingdom
Aim
Help Bow receive the urgent surgery, veterinary care and rehabilitation she needs as she begins her journey towards a loving forever home.
Bow has found her loving home 💜
After weeks of surgery, treatment and dedicated care at Mayhew, Bow has been adopted and is beginning a new chapter in a loving home.
Getting her to this point has been quite a journey.
Bow arrived at Mayhew after being found alone as a stray. She was underweight, completely blind and living in pain.
Although we may never know everything she had been through before she came to us, we believe Bow may have been used for breeding.
Despite everything she had endured, Bow was incredibly gentle and trusting from the moment she arrived, greeting our team with a wagging tail and happily accepting the care she so desperately needed.
Relieving Bow’s pain
When Mayhew’s veterinary team examined Bow, it soon became clear that she had been living with severe eye disease for some time.
Sadly, her right eye was beyond saving. Bow underwent urgent surgery to remove it and relieve the pain she had been living with.
Our vets hoped there might still be a chance of saving the sight in Bow’s remaining left eye and gave it every opportunity to recover with intensive treatment.
Sadly, further investigation confirmed that her retina had detached and her sight could not be restored. Leaving the eye in place also risked causing Bow pain and further problems in the future.
So Bow faced another operation to remove her remaining eye.
Learning to navigate a new world
Bow came through her second surgery safely and began recovering with the support of our veterinary and kennel teams.
Now completely without sight, she had to learn to navigate the world differently. Our team was there to help her adjust, giving her all the time, reassurance and care she needed.
And her treatment didn’t end with her eyes. Bow also needed to be spayed and required further veterinary care. Every step was about making sure she could leave pain behind and move towards a happier, healthier future.
Through it all, Bow remained the same sweet, trusting girl our team had fallen completely in love with.
And now, Bow is home 🏡💜
After everything she has been through, we’re delighted to share that Bow has found a wonderful new home.
She even has a big brother to help her find her way and watch over her as she settles into her new surroundings.
Our team are going to miss this very special girl enormously. Bow became such a loved part of life at Mayhew during her time with us, but seeing her leave for a loving home is exactly the ending we wanted for her.
