Who are we?
Bedworth Rugby Club has had a turbulent few years, we lost our ground, our club house - our home!
Thankfully due to the arduous work of volunteers, our committee and our members we have survived (even during a pandemic) ensuring that the great sport of rugby has a place within the heart of the Bedworth Community.
We now have a home at Nicholas Chamberlaine school, with our club house within the old nursery, we want to make the best use of these facilities and provide the community with a rugby hub, this is no small task, and we are not shy in asking for help to benefit our club and the wider community.
We now have more than 150 Mini & Junior players Tots/U7/U8/U9/U10/U11/U12 Girls tag and girls contact plus our first ever Ladies touch team and mixed abilities team (something we are extremely proud of), providing young girls and boys with physical activity and installing in them the core principles of Rugby - Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline & Sportsmanship. Our qualified coaches work alongside the parents to ensure all the children get the most enjoyment out of the training sessions.
On the pitch, we want to provide the very best facilities for all that use the club, we are urgently in need of floodlights, to enable training to happen all year round.
Why are we crowdfunding?
We would love to be able to use our pitches all year round for training purposes including the opportunity to host Friday night matches under the lights!
We have one senior mens side, one senior female touch side and a whole host of mini & juniors, ranging from Tots/U7/U8/U9/U10/U11/U12 girls tag and girls contact, ladies touch team and our first ever mixed abilities team, all wanting to train mid week.
Our club has grown rapidly in recent years with the growing demand of our new members, we desperately need to be able to offer facilities for the mixture of boys and girls junior members as well as our adult members.
These community based activities are helping the local community to socialise, thereby improving mental health and well-being something which is all too important as a result of recent years.
How we’ll spend the money raised
The aim of this project will be to install floodlights to the 1st XV pitch, with directional lighting over the 2nd XV pitch and the M&J pitches.
A professional sports lighting company will be engaged to carry out the work on our behalf ensuring it is installed correctly, safely and optimally. This will provide better facilities for future generations and allow the club to continue to grow and develop.
We’re using a ‘keep what you raise’ approach. This means that even if we fail to meet the funding goal within the time limit, we’ll still put any and all money raised into the Floodlight Fund and we’ll continue our fundraising work to deliver on what the club needs.
Community impact
To encourage the accessibility to and growth of the sport of Rugby Union for the local and wider communities. Bedworth RFC is a CASC member club and as such has a completely non-discriminatory membership policy. Their provision is available to all ages, sexes and regardless of ability.
To provide additional opportunities for local people in a recognised area of social deprivation to participate in sport and to develop their sporting and social skills, particularly among underrepresented groups. In particular Bedworth RFC are committed to increasing female participation in the sport of Rugby Union.
