We would like to open up more coffee afternoon sessions on other weekdays.
Hackney Chinese Community Services (HCCS) is a registered charity committed to serving the East and South East Asian (ESEA) community across the UK by providing them with advocacy services and mental health support, while also hosting social and cultural events. We focus on the wellbeing and welfare of our community members, especially since COVID-19, and are actively developing culturally sensitive services to meet the specific needs of our local community.
The East and South East Asian (ESEA) community have been severely impacted from the pandemic and it has been our mission to provide as much support as we can. To provide a voice to large group of silent minorities in the UK and to take into consideration their wellbeing with activities that not only provide comfort with understanding in language, but also cultural differences.
Our charity works with a lot of ESEA elderlies and provide them with services e.g. advocacy, lunch club and advice work, but also a communal space to work actively on their wellbeing, for example table tennis club, line dancing and karaoke. We hope to bring more attention to the ESEA community and their cultural needs.
Our charity has always provided communal space to the ESEA community, and have daily activities everyday of the week. The current Cost-of-Living (CoL) crisis has seen our expenses tripled yet we are still trying to provide affordable activities and services for our local community and have not raised our prices. The CoL crisis has also caused an increase in demand for our pensioners to have a safe and warm space where they can meet friends. We will be opening an extra session on Friday afternoons for them to have a space and grab a hot drink with friends or people from the same community and hope to provide them with a little more comfort in these hard days.
Any money raised will be spent on the utilities for our centre and refreshments for those who join us for the Coffee Afternoon.
