HCC Community Nets and Back Pitch improvements

Aim: HCC are crowdfunding in order to raise funds to make various improvements to our back pitch and to refurbish our community nets.

Who are we?

Harrogate Cricket Club is an inclusive and friendly community cricket club in the heart of North Yorkshire. 

As a club we have over 200 girls and boys playing junior cricket and six senior teams for both women and men. We also have a walking cricket team for our over 55s. 

Why are we crowdfunding?

We are crowdfunding in order to raise funds to refurbish and repair our existing two lane community nets. These are open to all members of the public and form part of the club's vision to remain an inclusive club for the local community. These nets are now very tired and have had many years of use. We are planning on replacing the surface and extending the run ups to improve this facility for the local community. Once refurbished these nets will remain open for all and will hopefully be a great asset to the local area.

We are also raising funds to improve our back pitch. This pitch hosts most of our junior cricket and also some of our senior cricket. In order to improve the back pitch we are seeking to raise funds to improve the drainage. The drainage for the outfield is almost non-existence and in previous years we have lost large parts of the season due to a waterlogged outfield. We also intend to raise funds to make a series of further improvements to the back pitch by purchasing a new scoreboard, improving the seating and viewing arrangements, purchasing new sight screens and covers.

How we’ll spend the money raised

100% of all the funds raised will be used towards this project. The funds will go to repairing the matting and surface in the community nets, improving the drainage on the back pitch and purchasing various items to make the back pitch are more suitable place to play cricket (sight screens, covers and a new scoreboard). We are incredibly fortunate to have received some generous donations towards this project already. Those donations amount to £20,000 and we are seeking to crowdfund a similar sum in order to make all of the improvements required to the back pitch and community nets.

Community impact

Our club is a community club first and foremost. We want to be able to have a really positive impact on young people and adults in our area by offering some of the best cricket facilities in the district. We hope that the refurbishment of the community nets will give opportunities for children, parents and adults in our local area to play cricket and practice their skills. The improvements to the back pitch will enable us to get more games of cricket on across the course of the season and will improve the playing experience for all our junior and senior cricketers.

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
