Aim: PWDRA will transform the Hazelmere underpass from a dismal, unloved tunnel into a vibrant walkway that reflects the natural world beyond.
Petts Wood and District Residents'Association are leading a project to transform the Hazelmere Road underpass. After years of neglect we aim to make the tunnel a vibrant invitation to explore the woodland and commons that are just steps away.
PWDRA committed funding so the artist James Daw could be appointed to begin designing the mural.
We are pleased to have the support of the National Trust and Bromley Council. The Chislehurst Society have pledged funds towards the mural and we are awaiting the outcome of an application to Network Rail. However, we still need to raise more money to cover the costs of painting the mural.
Our aim is to raise the circa £12,000 required by July. It is a lot of money but there is a lot of shrubbery to clear, flaky paint to remove and lots of beautiful paint to buy. If we can raise the funds by July, James will start painting in August.
Could you help us transform this walkway for the whole community to enjoy? All donations, no matter how big or small will help us make a difference to this unloved but well used space.
Finances tight, but time on your hands? Visit our FAQ's to contact us to volunteer.
We hope you feel able to join in to transform this walkway for many years to come.
Thank you.
