We need our message to reach every voter in Havering through leaflets and social media advertising. Every pound raised goes to our campaign.
This is a change election. People are abandoning both the Conservatives and Labour in droves, the Lib Dems have never been strong in our borough, and the Residents Association running the Town Hall are not so popular either. That leaves the Green Party and Reform.
We proved last Summer that if we get enough people talking to voters on the doors and leaflets communicating our message, that we can do well. We came just 57 votes short of winning a by-election in Barking and Dagenham, knocking Reform into a solid third. Our downfall? We didn't start early enough. We didn't do enough sessions outside of weekends. We didn't engage with enough voters.
Wisdom from past campaigns, present in the Green Party handbook 'How to win Local Elections', says that you need four contacts with a voter for them to consider voting for us. That might be different now that we have national recognition, but we can't be complacent.
For a proper literature campaign in an electoral ward we need £1000 and we have one shot every four years.
So we're asking if you could help us pay for a leaflet that highlights the work our activists have been doing in standing up for community libraries, justice for the residents of Launders Lane, working with campaigners against the East Havering Data Centre and so much more.
With a Green voice on Havering Council for the first time:
and so much more.
We're required to run checks on donations of £500 or more. For the same reason, we cannot accept anonymous donations of £500 and above.
Your details will appear in our election returns if your donation exceeds £500.
