Havens Community Hub supports and meets unmet community needs - including operating the Havens Food Cooperative and the Havens Happy Clubs.
The Havens Community Hub is at the heart of the community. We see where there are unmet needs and we create volunteer-led projects to improve and sustain life for residents, especially those most vulnerable or who need help to overcome barriers put in their way. Everyone deserves to be an engaged, active and supported part of their community and the Hub will 'find a way - or make a way'.
We launched Havens Community Cars - the only volunteer driver scheme in the Lewes District - which is now a stand-alone charity (in partnership with the Hub) supporting over 400 members with 15 trained and supported volunteer drivers. Members are unable to use public transport and for most, we are the only solution to their transport problem including accessing medical care and other daily living needs.
Our current projects are the Havens Food Cooperative helping over 700 people a week and saving over a ton of still edible perishable food from reaching landfill - and the Havens Happy Clubs, for older people - preventing isolation and loneliness with activities, friendship and support as well as continuously offering support to other small local groups, charities and individual campaigners.
