Expand and sustain our community impact
Expand and sustain our community impact
To meet unmet needs in our community by creating, running and supporting projects to benefit residents especially those at risk.
The Hub creates projects to help meet unmet community needs and so far has started four major projects as well as supporting other small groups, charities, and campaigners in the Havens area (the coastal stretch between Brighton and Eastbourne, East Sussex).
Havens Food Cooperative - a food waste prevention and priority redistribution pantry saving over 1 ton of food every week from reaching landfill and providing local residents and groups with surplus food. HFC prevents the creation of hundreds of thousands of kg of harmful greenhouse gases and helps families experiencing food poverty as well as preventing food waste. The Food Cooperative is open 365 days per year supporting the community.
Telscombe Civic Centre (first floor) - expanding our existing projects and partner charities to reach more people, charities, and businesses in this time of economic and social crisis.
Havens Happy Clubs (now a registered non-profit organisation) - fantastic activity and respite clubs for older people with complex needs.
Havens Community Cars (now a registered charity) - a volunteer driver scheme supporting over 500 residents who are unable to use public transport.
Our ethos is 'we'll FIND a way or we'll MAKE a way' and believe in working with communities to find solutions to social problems and filling in gaps in support for people facing barriers to inclusion.
Havens Community Hub relies on fundraising and the generosity of supporters, companies, and local authorities to help with grants and donations to enable it to run.
4x4x48 – Starting Friday the 2nd of June at 8am, Steve Whittemore of Whittfit Training Gym, Luke Martin of Robert Martin Roofing Services, Andy Farley, organiser of Seaford Park run and Steve Brill of Churches Fire Safety, will be completing an ultra-running challenge.
They will run 4 miles, every 4 hours for 48 hours. They will add an additional 4-mile run to complete 52 miles in 2 days (the equivalent of 2 marathons). This challenge will test them physically and push them mentally to the limit.
Runs at 8am, midday, 4pm, 8pm, midnight and 4am will see them go without sleep and contend with the great British weather conditions!
Please sponsor Team 4x4x48 and your donations will be doubled at no extra cost to you (one donation per person up to £250 will be matched).
