This will provide a further indoor facility for the young people we work with.
We have seen a significant increase in children referred to our service therefore we require more indoor space for supporting young people
I started Keehan 2 Achieve Ltd back in 2013 whilst still working full -time in a school for young people with special educational needs and social emotional mental health difficutlies. I developed my business model, brand and a system of support for mentoring young people having diffiuclties either with relationships at home or in their current educational setting. By September 2014, I was able to leave the security of a full time job as I had gained enough hours as mentor. Working 1:1 and listening to the young people helped me gain an insight in to the support required. This increased the passion and drive that existed in me to develop Keehan 2 Achieve Ltd to offer more services to suit varying support needs for not just young people their families too.
Keehan 2 Achieve Ltd works with some of the most vulnerable young people across BCP and Dorset. We provide bespoke programmes of supported learning to promote social emotional well-being and develop self-esteem. This gives the young people we work with the confidence to take their next steps be it either on to a specialist education setting, a return to mainstream education, or a step on to further training and employment. We also offer support throughout this transition period to ensure its success.
Keehan 2 Achieve Ltd is now made up of a team of experienced, passionate and enthustiastic support workers all keen to provide the very best invidual support to young people. We have all managed to adapt and overcome numerous challenegs to ensure we have maintained the provision of support services throughout the Covid-19 restrictions. However a large amount of our work was previously carried out within community facilities such as libraries and leisure establishments. Fortunately the spring weather conditions made it managable to use outdoor activities but now the winter months have highlighted that we have a significant lack of available indoor space and this limits our ability to cater for and meet the needs of more vulnerable young people. We want to be able to help as many young people as possible.
It has been well documented that the global COVID-19 pandemic has affected the social, emotional, mental health of children and young people. I have witnessed first hand a huge increase in demand for support for young people who have already had to overcome various challenges and obsatcles prior to COVID-19 at such a young age.
Our vision is to create a much needed indoor therapeutic learning environment in addition to our current Hut based at High Mead Farm. Our current hut measures 4x4m and provides a multi-purpose setting for many activities from cooking to academic learning and it is shared between 10 children each with 1:1 support workers. Although we have been managing working in these conditions we are in desperate need to expand our facilities.
Any donations will be used to aquire space and build an additional purpose built hut.
