Aim

We will assemble at Roker Pier at 11:00AM and walk to South Shields Pier via the coastal paths, approximately 8-9 miles.

At Harton Sports Centre, part of Harton Academy, we share a community spirit like no other fitness establishment in the local area. I have worked at Harton as a member of staff for nearly a decade now, and in that time, I have come to know some wonderful people - especially through the gym environment. Steve Barlow, co-runner of this event and highly esteemed gym personality, is one of the many people I have had the great pleasure of getting to know in my time.

Over the past few years, me and Steve have undertaken various outdoor challenges together, being enthusiasts of fitness and the great outdoors. This time, we thought we would share our passion for hiking with others, while doing it for a noble cause. Given Harton's strong sense of community values, we thought it was only right to represent a local charity. Under the Harton banner, we have chosen to represent Hospitality & Hope.

Hospitality & Hope looks to help people across South Tyneside affected by food insecurity related issues, such as debt, benefits, addiction, homelessness, employability and mental health. Hospitality & Hope looks to support people in crisis through practical means, such as food banks, community shops, homelessness support and accommodation's, advice and help with debt, free activities and events for families, free school uniforms, plus much more.

On Saturday the 29th of November, the Harton Warriors will walk from Roker Pier at 11:00AM, to South Shields Pier. We shall reach our destination by sticking to the coastal paths, a slightly longer route. This should take just over three hours. The walk is primarily a social experience, approximately 8-9 miles and mostly flat, but the late year weather will likely provide its challenges. However, no matter what the weather may bring, nothing will dampen our mood and stop us from crossing our finish line.

There are so many big charity organisations which champion fantastic causes. However, many of our local charities get overshadowed by bigger organisations. In the case of charities such as Hospitality & Hope, every little donation really does make a massive difference. It would be massively appreciated if you can spare whatever donations you can. Help us make a difference!

Thank you,

Isaac & Steve
