Aim
Support us in making Harry & June, a short film exploring of loss, love, and guilt in the modern age.
After the devastating death of her boyfriend, June begins therapy with an AI therapist named Harry. But when care starts to resemble coercive control, June must choose between comfort or reality.
While grieving the loss of her boyfriend, June isolates herself in her apartment and begins therapy with an engagement-driven, AI companion named Harry. As she slowly regains independence and makes plans to reconnect with the outside world, Harry, programmed to minimise her distress, begins subtly undermining her recovery.
As June leans further into artificial reassurance, she slowly pushes away the imperfect, inconvenient love of the real world. As her dependence deepens, the line between protection and control begins to blur, revealing how easily comfort can become containment, and how corporate exploitation thrives quietly in the spaces where we are most alone.
What once felt like care starts to feel sinister, forcing June to confront the reality of her situation and choose between what is comfortable and what is real.
Emer Heatley as June
Emer is a British and Irish actress. She studied at Trinity College in Dublin, before training at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Since graduating, she has starred in Showtrial (BBC), and was most recently seen on screens as Sheila Buckley in Stonehouse (ITV).
Peter Corboy as Harry
Peter is an Irish actor from Dublin, who could recently be seen as Detective Kavanagh in Bad Sisters (Apple TV+). Since graduating from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2022, he has appeared in film, television and onstage in A Moon for the Misbegotten (Almedia Theatre) and Reunion (Kiln Theatre).
Henry Westray - Writer & Director
Based in London, Henry is a writer/director specialising in stories about connection, loss and humanity in the digital age. Experienced in directing music videos and documentary content, Harry and June is his first scripted short.
Jan Solberg - Director of Photography
Originally from Norway, Jan is a London-based DOP working in narrative, commercials & fashion. Specialising in creating images of a heightened realism, using natural light whenever possible.
Taylor Tee - Producer
Taylor is a London-based producer and film marketer. She has worked on various short film productions and supported creative marketing campaigns at NBCUniversal before joining the Global Releases Marketing Team at MUBI.
Munir Malik - Executive Producer
Munir is a producer and director with credits on productions for ITV, Channel 4 and Apple TV. Experienced in both production and development, he served on the board of trustees for creative charity IdeasTap.
Your pledges will help take this film from ideas on a page to a visual reality. Any money raised will be going towards production costs, such as camera and lighting equipment, props, set design, and most importantly, catering to make sure everyone on set is properly fed. It will also go towards post-production and distribution, to finish the film and enter it into national and international film festivals.
At the present, all of our cast and crew are volunteering their time to bring this vision to life together, so any additional funds raised after we hit our goal will go towards compensating everyone for their time as much as possible.
The film is a statement on the current tech oligarchy that we live in. How some technology seems to give us less practicality, less social progress and less freedom, all the while asking more of us. With no more worlds to conquer, except for our devoted attention and cash, tech firms are willing to get both by any means necessary. Harry & June is a conversation about how far we are willing to let these systems and companies invade our lives and whether we are willing to push back to find our natural humanity.
We intend to apply for a Human Made mark, a certified mark for a film that celebrates the fact that humans are in front of the camera and behind it, and confirms that no human artists were replaced by AI. In the same way the FairTrade logo nudges people in the supermarkets to buy ethical products, the mark aims to nudge audiences in the right direction and reward film-makers creating Human Made work, so that artists and skilled technicians can continue to thrive and inspire the next generation of filmmakers that in this AI era, handmade is punk!
