Aim: Burley in Wharfedale CC are aiming to renovate the nets, repair the club roof, build a secure equipment store and install a new hybrid pitch
Burley in Wharfedale Cricket Club are family friendly club that serves the local community.
We run 3 senior teams and 9 junior teams from under 9s to under 18s.
We continue to run an All Stars programme as promoted by the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) targetting future players aged 5 to 8 years and have supported over 450 children over the last 6 years
We also have teams solely for girls
and for women
Our clubhouse and ground is widely used by people from the village for private parties ,end of year school events and a variety of fundraising events .We host "fun days" for the village as well as the Parish Council run Classic Car Rally
The club has a proud tradition of developing young talent and we wish this to continue. As such we need to maintain and improve existing facilities and to provide up to date training methods and keep investing in the club.
Running a cricket club is an expensive business with everything from junior cricket equipment to the food for the cricket teas rocketing in price.
Over the years wear and tear has taken its toll on the practice nets which regularly flood due to some blocked drains, our groundsmans storage building (which has had several attempted break ins and an arson attempt) and the clubhouse roof needs repairing.
Over recent years our junior programme has produced England star Harry Brook and Yorkshire's Matty Revis and we want to offer the same standard of coaching and facilities to the next stars of the future
How our project will be United by Birmingham 2022
The Commonwealth games in 2022 was a massive success and its legacy is to bring people together and to improve their health and well being. The spirit of the Birmingham 2022 games was to unite people through sport with competion underpinned by friendship and fair play. These are values very much at the heart of Burley in Wharfedale Cricket clubs ethos.
Any support you donate to our cause will be supported by the Places and Spaces fund from the Birmingham Commonwealth games
Once we raise the money we will build a new secure building for the groundsman's equipment ,repair the club roof and refurbish the practice facilities
The estimate for the building below is £25,000 and the £10,000 will refurbish our practice facilities A structural engineer is currently in the process of estimating the cost of the roof repairs
The club is at the heart of the local community and is used widely for village events. The Classic car show is held on our ground every year as is the village Christmas lights party
Over 200 children are members of the club either through the All Stars project for 5 to 8 year olds or for one of the 9 junior teams that we run
Thanks to the support of the United by Birmingham Commonwealth Games Places and Spaces fund we hope to acieve our ambitions of bringing people together to improve their health and fitness
