Aim: Harrogate CC has over 150 boys & girls playing cricket and 5 senior teams, BUT only TWO tired cricket nets! We need to build new nets ASAP!!
Who are we? Harrogate Cricket Club is an inclusive and friendly community cricket club in the heart of North Yorkshire.
We cater for girls, boys, senior cricketers and the over 55s (via our ‘walking cricket’ team) of all abilities.
We have a proud history of developing players who go on to represent Nidderdale, North Yorkshire and Yorkshire at all age levels.
Why are we crowdfunding?
We have an AMAZING junior section at Harrogate Cricket Club that includes over 150 children. Our girls cricket section is going from strength to strength, and now has 3 teams across 3 age groups. We have 4 senior teams and a ‘walking cricket‘ team...
BUT… we only have TWO nets for hundreds of players and they are really old and tired. We have constant issues with net congestion (i.e. too many players and not enough nets) and this significantly impacts our players ability to practise and develop.
We want to be able to provide some of the best cricket facilities in the North of England. But, we’re currently falling well short of where we want to be.
We need your help!
We want brilliant net facilities so we can:
- Give the best opportiunities we can to all our cricketers, particularly our juniors and women and girls
- Protect and preserve the game we love by ensuring that participation in cricket grows
- Allow each cricketer to develop at their own pace, with enough ‘net time’ to discover their strengths and work on their confidence
How you can play your part
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success! We will value every donation highly - whether its £10, £100 or something even more generous.
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. If you want to run your own fundraiser to support us, maybe a sponsored activity or similar, use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
How we’ll spend the money raised
100% of all the money raised will be spent on upgrading our net facilities. We are incredibly fortunate that several donors have already indicated that they will match what we raise to the sum of £30,000. If we can match that target and aim to raise £50,000 we will be able to start building some of the best net facilities in the region.
Community impact
Our club is a community club first and foremost. We want to be able to have a really positive impact on young people, adults and over 55s in our region by offering the best facilities in the district.
There is a real lack of quality net facilities in North Yorkshire. We believe we can build an outstanding facility that will serve our players, their families, and the broader cricketing community for years to come.
