Aim

We need expert support to ensure that the proposed St Clare development doesn't destroy our village atmosphere.

Please do not leave anymore donations as we can not allocate them to anything further!

We have reached our target! Thank you to all who have made a donation for us to be able to reach our target, we will now be able to formally instruct our planning consultant. Thank you again!

Why are we fundraising?

Notting Hill Genesis (NHG) have appealed the council's planning refusal and now we have to fight back. We need an expert to powerfully represent the Hampton Hill community at the Hearing. We know over two hundred people objected, and many of us have worked together to get this point, but this is crunch time. We have to raise £5000 to pay for a planning consultant.

We want a development that works for the community

The site needs to be developed for housing and commercial space, but it should be in keeping with Hampton Hill. Its going to affect everyone but in particular Penny Farthing Mews, Holly Road, Windmill Road and School Road.

The scheme has been refused on the grounds of having too little social housing and not enough commercial space. These are very good reasons, but we also feel strongly that the development is too many, too high and too different.

Too Many

112 dwellings will stretch local amenities: doctors, schools and nurseries. The number of dwellings and businesses will inevitably increase traffic and the congestion we already face on a daily basis. Too many homes are being squeezed into the space and it's too much for Hampton Hill to absorb.

Too High

The central block is planned to be 5 storeys, this is too high. Hampton Hill is predominantly made up of two and three storey buildings. A five-storey building will dominate the skyline in all directions. If this goes through it will set a precedent for higher buildings in the future.

Too Different

Architecturally it is not in-keeping with the surrounding Victorian brick-built cottages, some of them are Buildings of Townscape Merit. The proposed buildings neither enhance, nor complement, what we have and treasure.

This is our last chance

This is our last chance to ensure that this development gets thrown out.

We need to raise enough funds to pay a planning consultant. Cunnane Town Planning are willing to take on our case. They are a Richmond-based town planning consultancy with experience in Public Inquiries and Hearings, who say we  'have a robust case on height, scale, mass and design'.

Please can you help?

Our target is £5000 to cover the fixed fee.

When the Appeal Hearing is announced we will only have a few weeks notice, which is why we are starting to raise funds now.

Thank you for giving generously.

The funds will be managed by the Town Centre Manager on behalf of everyone.
