All or nothing
This project needs 100% of its target
Aim: Want to see kick-ass inclusive beauty? Help fund the last piece - a custom basin that makes Hair: Anywhere truly work for wheelchair users.
About Me
Hi, I’m Frankii - founder of Hair: Anywhere, a mobile hair salon built on the principles inclusive design and seamlessly integrated accessibility.
I’ve been a hairdresser since 2007, working in salons, homes, festivals, and community settings. Over the years, I noticed one nagging issue: even when a space is technically accessible, the service often isn’t. Most salon basins, for example, are fixed into chairs - making them unusable for many wheelchair users. So, I set out to build something different.
The Idea
Hair: Anywhere is a mobile salon designed from the ground up to offer a high-quality, one-to-one salon experience for anyone, anywhere - with dignity, comfort, and accessibility at its heart.
The van is almost complete. However, one essential piece is missing: the custom-designed basin engineered for wheelchair users. The basin is not just a nice-to-have item; it is the defining asset and key to making the whole service fully accessible.
What the Money Will Do
This campaign will fund the design and tooling of that adapted basin - the jewel in the crown that turns Hair: Anywhere from a great idea into an awesome reality.
I’ve invested everything I have to get the project this far. Now, I’m asking for your support to cross the finish line. Help me prove that accessibility and stunning design aren’t mutually exclusive - both can (and should) go hand in hand.
Why It Matters (to me & hopefully you!)
Hair: Anywhere is proudly rooted in Liverpool - my home and the city where this service will launch. I want this business to be a real asset to the region, offering something new, meaningful, and genuinely transformational to the people who need it most.
Here in Merseyside, nearly one in four people live with a disability. Yet across the UK, 1 in 5 disabled people still struggle to access basic services - and 75% say they’ve walked away from businesses due to poor accessibility. That’s an enormous number of people routinely excluded right here on our doorstep.
This project is about changing that. It’s about making sure beauty, care, and dignity aren’t luxuries or afterthoughts - they’re part of thoughtful design from the start.
If you believe in accessible beauty, dignity in care, and design rooted in community - please back this campaign and help bring Hair: Anywhere to life in Liverpool.
The Journey to date and worthy shout-outs
Building Hair: Anywhere has been a formidable labour of love. I rolled up my sleeves and took on most of the van conversion myself, from gutting the original interior to laying screed, repointing cabinetry, and installing the core infrastructure.
It has been a steep learning curve, but I have had the support of amazing friends and family along the way, especially with the more intimidating aspects such as electrics, welding, and suspension.
🛠️ Community spotlight:
I literally couldn’t have done any of this without the Liverpool Tool Library, whose resources have helped transform an old van into a (nearly) fully fitted mobile salon. LTL is a bona fide Liverpool treasure and a vibrant example of what community-focused ambition looks like.
I could not have reached this stage without that support, and your help now will ensure that effort is not in vain.
The vision behind this van conversion goes beyond a salon; it embodies a hand-crafted commitment to accessible design that serves everyone.
