Six independent socialists are standing for Hackney Council in May 2026. To take on the Labour machine, we need to buy canvassing software.
In the 2026 local elections, we're aiming to double the number of Hackney Independent Socialist councillors from 3 to 6. This will strengthen our work to share the council's power with our borough's communities and to make Hackney affordable and livable for all its residents.
We're grateful to people who've joined the Hackney Independent Socialist Collective. Donations from members and from the allowances of our three councillors gives us a small income.
But to run an effective campaign and take on the Labour machine, we need state-of-the-art canvassing software and we don't have enough funds to pay for that. That's why we've organised this crowdfunder.
We're asking for money to use Ecanvasser between September and May - it costs £299 per month for the four wards.
Since we left the Labour Party, we've been working effectively with Hackney Greens. When we knock on doors and leaflet, we've found that many Hackney residents are happy to learn we're collaborating, and so have a genuine chance of winning power in May.
