Aim

Get a Green voice into Hackney Council this May

Hackney Greens have been working hard for months preparing for the Council elections on 3rd May 2018 and we have a genuine chance of getting councillors elected to Hackney Council where we will be able to directly influence the future direction of services in Hackney and hold the council to account.

Over the past year and beyond we have been working hard in the community, listening to people's needs and concerns and seeking to help resolve problems wherever possible.

We have our campaign and spending plans in place, now we need your support to make them reality.

An Active Opposition

A Green voice on the Council would ensure a robust opposition on critical issues where people need to come first, challenging Hackney Council to take more ambitious local action and create a prosperous sustainable future for all.

Once elected we will:

• Scrutinise the Council’s budget and policy proposals and challenge plans for cuts and privatisation in health and social care
• Support the Council where we think they are doing the right thing
• Look to publish all Freedom of Information requests and responses on the Council’s website

We will use our voice to:

• Drive for a local economy which puts people first
• Hold the Town Hall to account to deliver on their promises
• Promote equality and diversity
• Protect our environment and our health

What are our key costs?

The majority of spending is as always the cost of printing which is our best way of reaching the maximum number of voters in Hackney.

Printing costs include things like:

• Newsletters
• Posters
• Letters from candidates
• Polling day flyers
• Leaflets
• Election information booklets

We have set our initial target at an achievable £1000, this is in fact considerably less than our expected costs but we wanted to set a realistic starting goal, we will set a stretch target if we reach our goal and will be carrying out further fundraising as needed to cover the full costs of the campaign. Every donation makes a difference.

In Summary

We're campaigning for a positive, progressive vision for a fairer and sustainable Hackney and this is a genuine chance for us to get a place on the council.
